The human species has evolved to use its dominion over other species to its benefit. The acquisition of animals as collectible has always been more fascinating and exciting than natural history objects. This is in part because wild life is less common, difficult to acquire and more costly to maintain. Keeping living animals has been the ultimate trophy for many collectors of the elite. A guy goes nuts if he aint got nobody. Dont matter no difference who the guy is, longs hes with you. I tell ya a guy gets too lonely an he gets sick. A major theme in Steinbecks novell Of Mice and Men is loneliness. Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "A Theme of Loneliness in The Novell Of Mice and Men" essay for you Create order The characters Crooks, Candy and Curleys wife each suffer from this although the severity of their seclusion varied. The old swapper, Candy was victimized by isolation as a result of two main factors, one being his disability and the other being his age. For example, throughout the book we find the farmhands out bucking the barley while Candy is left behind to sweep and clean the ranch. He lost his hand after getting it caught in a piece of machinery and as a result he is forced to stay behind. This being one of the major factors that leads to his loneliness. Furthermore, Candys age adds to his feeling of uselessness. Because he thinks that he is old he puts himself in a state of mind that handicaps him more than his missing hand ever will. He looks down on himself as an old worthless man thats wasting away his last few years. Not only is it the way that others think of him but also the way he thinks of himself that forces him to find solitude. The most evident case of loneliness is Curleys wife. No matter how hard she tried she couldnt fit in. For example, when she tried numerous times to talk to George and Lenny she was either ignored or told to leave. Because of her reputation for being a flirt none of the farmhands wanted to talk to her. It was the threat of getting in trouble with Curley that caused many workers to avoid her. In addition, because of Curleys insecure feelings he neglected her and forced her to seek attention anyway she could, even it meant flirting. She was ignored by both the farmhands and her own husband and because of this she was being forced into loneliness, the one thing she fought so hard against.Crooks is a black man that experiences isolation in terms of racism. For example, he is forced to live alone in the barn. Because the setting of this book takes place during the 1930s discrimination sadly still existed. The farmhands feel that since he is black he isnt worthy of living with the rest of t hem. Furthermore, his separation from others causes his severe loneliness. He spends his nights reading and his days alone in the barn working on the horses. His distance from others eventually causes his downfall. We find discrimination being the major cause of this characters loneliness. He is treated as an outcast and underling and is forced to find friendship in the only thing he can, the books he reads.Loneliness is an inevitable fact of life that not even the strongest can avoid. Throughout the story Of Mice and Men we discover the many sources of solitude, primarily being discrimination and prejudice. Crooks, Candy, and Curleys wife all suffer from these facts which leads them to their loneliness. As for the consequences we find that the severity of each characters loneliness varied and that the eventual effects were directly related to the magnitude of their desolation.

Race Advances Health Care Research - 1335 Words

Racial categories play a significant role in healthcare and research, and should not be eliminated. Firstly, studying race advances health care research because it adds a layer of understanding between the doctor and the patient; the researcher and the subject. Race is a real aspect of human life, and ignoring it completely will make a superficial relationship between health care professionals and their patients. By studying the behavior of physicians, a 2010 study concluded â€Å"patient race is important to physicians when making decisions about preconception genetic testing and that decision making is influenced by patients’ physical characteristics† (Bonham et al. 2010). Patient race was important to the physicians’ decision making skills.†¦show more content†¦Furthermore, â€Å"clinicians will make better educated patient evaluations if they familiarize themselves with the history of the particular communities they serve† (Rondini 2015: pg. 1 426). Communities are more than likely separated by races. This can be due to language barriers, economic barriers, and cultural differences. It is imperative to keep racial categories in healthcare because it builds a deeper relationship between a health care provider and patient by allowing more information to flow in their conversation. Racial categories should be kept in health care and research because by eliminating race, structural inequality will be overlooked. When taking race into consideration, there is an explicit difference in regards to health status. For example, â€Å"infant mortality among blacks was 2 1/2 times higher than among whites† (Lillie-Blanton 2000: pg. 222). In another instance, â€Å"the correlation between darker skin in a community-based sample of U.S. blacks and high blood pressure found that the association between skin color and blood pressure was significant only in persons whose socioeconomic status was low and in individuals who had not completed high school† (Schulman et al. 1995, pg. 186). In both cases, there is a substantial health inequality between white and black people. However, as Lillie-Blanton elucidated, this is correlation was found in areas where there was socioeconomic status had an impact. By disregarding race, we are actually

Indianpolis home show house Example

Essays on Indianpolis home show house Assignment Indianapolis Home Show Indianapolis Home Show Having personally attended this year’s Indianapolis Home Show, I would like to report that indeed, the events at the 93rd annual Indianapolis Home Show were memorable. With the theme of ‘Modern Hill-Home,’ the show accomplished its goal of showcasing ideal homes. I was so enthusiastic for getting an opportunity, in the company of my class members, to go to the show’s expo hall to have a look at, admire and fall in love with the fully-landscaped, decorated and constructed Centerpiece Home. Everything seems to have been properly organized to depict the show not as a new, but an event that has been occurring for the last nine decades. As a Home Show student, I was so eager to attend the show on 31st/01/2015 to make direct observations, ask queries and learn a lot of lessons that might of great importance to my course. My attendance confirmed to me that Indianapolis is a real show in which people get to know much about houses, homes, gardens amongst other things that are meaningful to them. Everything on exhibition was quite appealing and worth spending money on. Hence, I would like to state that my $12 that was spent on the show ticket did not go for a waste, but gave me a life-long reward-making me to deepen my knowledge on real estate. I was attracted to the Centerpiece Home because it presents a version of Paxton design. Meaning, it heavily borrows from the design techniques of the legendary Joseph Paxton who pioneered a unique kind of exterior design still in use up to date. The whole design and construction process was done by prestigious Fischer Homes, a reputable building company that has been constructing houses in Indiana for a very long time. Its involvement in this work implies that it would be a valuable product that no one willing to own a home would miss whatsoever. This is because the Centerpiece Home has a lot of good features both in its exterior and interior. First, it is a large house with a size of 4,000 square feet. Thus, it becomes spacious enough to fit a total of four bed rooms, living rooms, kitchen spaces and three baths. This implies that the house is quite spacious to provide enough room for accommodating a large number of people and giving them room to live a very comfortable and uninterrupted life. The exterior design of the house was properly made using a distinctive combination of building materials exclusively to give it an exceptional outlook. For instance, the entire building is equipped with properly-placed windows and interesting angles so as to give it the expected comfort, natural balance and harmony typical to the East Coast feeling. To make it achieve the optimal comfort it targets, the Centerpiece Home has a large number of living spaces. These are composed of the master bedroom, three other bedrooms, owner’s retreat, open kitchen, basement and the entertainment floors. Each of the living spaces is situated in its own floor. This makes movement much easier while in the house. They are all aesthetic because their decorations are professionally done to suit the target market. I liked this house because of the design of its rooms. Each of them is given enough space to allow the occupants to enjoy themselves without many constraints. For instance, the strategic location of the master bedroom next to the windows makes it to be very comfortable. Its position enables it to create a natural setting for the owner of house. The interior of the building was done by the renowned Touch of Class’ designer Joy Perkins along side Fischer’s Christine Robbins and Shari Bove. These are great interior design experts who have been credited with producing some of the most excellent designs. By incorporating the elements of the French, Belgian and Italian architectures, the interior of the building stands out to be marvelous. The quality of the house was improved by giving it an appropriate finishing, decoration and equipping it eye-catching facilities such as accent chairs, round tables, cabinets, linen chairs to mention, but a few. The bedroom is furnished with 100% natural woolen rug to make much comfortable for the owner. These are features that are so appealing and can make the house to stand ahead of the rest. If I had a client in urgent need of a home, I would definitely advise him to grab this opportunity to own my own. Having known the kind of houses built by Fischer Homes, I would urge the client to sacrifice his finances to purchase this home. First, I will do is to look for all the available options, assess the client’s financial abilities before making the right choice on the exact payment option to take. However, as said by Fischer Homes’ corporate marketing manager Mr. Stephen Whaley, an interested client can liaise with the Victory Mortgage Company to seek for mortgage loans to help in financing the house. As a potential buyer, I should have all the information about the pricing policy of the company. Since single home ranges between $90,000 and 800,000, I will have to consider all the factors before making the right choice for my client. After choosing whether to build my client’s house in Westfield, Avon, Mt. Vernon, Carmel, Fishers/Geist, Greenwood Center Grove, Zionsville or McCordsville, we will know the exact costs to incur. So, by choosing to have my Centerpiece Home constructed in Greenwood Center Grove, the client will need to part with a paltry $300,000. So, the buying option will be cash or partnering with Victory Mortgages to acquire a mortgage loan. Of these two, mortgage payment will be the better option. Although it will increase appear more expensive, resorting to mortgage will give me an assured financial plan to buy the home without necessarily having to touch my savings. After all, my client has a steady income that can enable me to qualify for such loan. As stated in http://www.victorymortgage.net/CalcQualifier.x, my client’s annual income of $40,000 can easily qualify him for a $300,000 mortgage loan. Meaning, he will not have to use his own resources, but arrange to get an intervention from Victory Mortgages to finance him. The mortgage calculator at http://www.victorymortgage.net/MortgageCalculators will help in ascertaining the amount of money to be paid every month especially after sealing the credit arrangement with the mortgage company. If a down payment of $160,000 is paid, the rest can be comfortably disbursed at a fixed rate in agreeable monthly installments. Through this, it will be possible to own a Centerpiece Home that everyone is yearning for. In conclusion, I would like to express my satisfaction with the Indianapolis Home Show. It was a well-organized event that brought together the who is who in the real estate industry. Through it, the attendees got an ample opportunity to know much about home rental, leasing and purchase. Personally, I was so delighted to come across great celebrities and have a direct encounter with the works of highly regarded Centerpiece Home. I was so happy to see the home because I had never thought of seeing it before. What surprised me most is that the house’s interior design was done by Joy Perkins, Christine Robbins and Shari Bove. These are professionals who have been regarded as very successful designers, whose works have been receiving the approval of everyone. I was also surprised that surprised me is that the Fischer Homes allow its clients to use mortgage to acquire as home. This is so encouraging. For this reason, if given a chance, I would not hesitate to purchase the Centerpi ece Home. It is my dream home.

Valley Forge Forging Men Into Soldiers - 1203 Words

Running head: VALLEY FORGE Valley Forge: Forging Men into Soldiers Jason Rollins Mountain View High School VALLEY FORGE Introduction In September of 1777, British Major General William Howe marched on Philadelphia with fifteen-thousand troops. General Washington and his untrained continental army attempted to cut them off but were outnumbered and outmaneuvered. After several more failed attempts to stop the British Army, Philadelphia was taken and Washington retreated. With winter fast approaching, Washington began to look for a winter encampment for his army, as was normal for armies in the 18th century. Washington was looking for a place for his army to stay at that would â€Å"afford supplies of provisions, wood, water, and forage, be secure from surprise and best calculated for covering the country from the ravages of the enemy† (Avery, 2011). The best location he could find was Valley Forge. Valley Forge was 25 miles from Philadelphia and was a high plateau. Creeks and rivers provided natural barriers that would force any approaching enemy to cross, as well as fight uphill. The continental army arrive d at Valley Forge on December 19th, 1777 and would stay for six months (Hickman, 2015). Those months would be full of brutal cold, sickness, and a stark lack of supplies. Organizational Behavior Issues and Its Diagnosis Using Concepts

Question: Discuss about theOrganizational Behavior Issues and Its Diagnosis Using Concepts. Answer: Introduction These days it is deemed impossible to consider a successful company that does not pay considers tension to the organization behavior. It is clarified that the important objective of the company to attain success (Robbins and Judge 2012). Organizational behavior is considered as the study of which the individuals communicate within the groups. Organizational behavior is considered as the study of the individual and group performance as well as activity within the organization. These days it is considered increasingly difficult (Czaplewski et al. 2016). External and internal perspectives are two major theories regarding the way organizational behavior can be viewed by the organization. At the time of summer internship in an organization, I came across several factors those indicated organizational behavior problems. I came across several organizational behavior issues that affected the workplace environment within the organization. The issue was related with the company itself as I cam e to know that increased turnover I the organization indicates that the employees are not sufficiently satisfied in their work environment. I came to observe that the predictors of increased turnover are associated with weak interpersonal interaction where the team members were not willing to cooperate and ignore one another. Such issue needs several solutions and I felt necessary to enhance the situation as soon as possible. I also came to realize that it is not that simple to attain the goal of attaining organizational behavior goals in the absence of well-trained and qualified workforce those have an important role within the competitive market. As I was in the role of an organizational consultant of a health care organization during my summer internship program for this reason, the manager in such scenario recommended having course of actions for resolving the real organizational concerns. For this reason, I attempted to offer a detailed description of the organizational behavior concerns along with discussing the factor those caused such issues in the company. Discussion Underlying Factors Those Caused the Problem For evaluating the organization behavior problem that was faced by the health care organization in which I was in the role of the organizational consultant at the time of my summer internship, I gathered that the poor interpersonal communication in the group was present that resulted in increased employee turnover. I came to realize that in order to solve such organizational behavior issues the description of the major factors causing the issues must be described. I gained knowledge that certain difficulties with the interpersonal communication can affect the low job satisfaction of the employees along with their low morale. I felt that to deal with such issue it is vital to treat all the team members with great respect. I have revealed several factors those have greatly contributed to the poor interpersonal communication and affected low job satisfaction and employee morale. Such factors included increased level of moral and ethical education, employee dishonesty, distrust along wit h misunderstanding, racial abuse, distinct age group, diversified culture, unequal gender relations, unfair wage level and several personal affairs including jealousy and antipathy (DuBrin 2013). During the summer internship within the organization, I came to realize that the above-mentioned factors have resulted in the poor interpersonal communication within the workplace and among the employees. Moreover, I have also observed that this has also resulted in certain conflict situations and even dismissal of the employees. In the health care organization, I gathered that the major factor that resulted in the poor interpersonal communication within the workplace is associated with distinct age groups. The heath care organization is renowned as the oldest health care provider in which there is group of old specialists having work experience of more than thirty years. I have observed that the existing employees not only humiliate the existing young employees but also do not allow them to accomplish all their responsibilities in an efficient manner. I have gathered that the team members in the company constantly point on the mistakes rather than motivating fellow team members to c omplete tasks. I have observed that the young specialists are not satisfied with their job and did not get any promotion I their job for years. Such weak interpersonal communication resulted in increase staff turnover within the company that needs efficient solutions (Miner 2015). Such source of information regarding the organizational behavior has helped me in evaluating the issue of poor interpersonal communication within the health care company. I have also demonstrated the social communication theory as the foundation of the interpersonal relationships evaluation. As an organizational consultant, I considered it necessary to consider the major factors of poor interpersonal communications that can result in critical situations within the company. Based on the situation I can state that such serious situation can decrease the productivity of the company. In the health care organization, I discovered that the interpersonal communication issues in the workplace could attain a great amount of negative responses of the consumers those remain dissatisfied with the health care services provided by the company and by the health care specialist. Problem Causing Factors Related with Concepts of Organizational Behavior The source of the information gathered from the organization has supported my evaluation on the factors causing organizational behavior issues in the health care company. I consider the poor interpersonal communication factors results such as moods and emotions at work, stressful conditions, punishments and rewards, motivation of employees and satisfaction of job. I consider that the observation of the organizational behavior issues can help in developing solutions and I came to realize that the emotion and moods those are experienced by the employees within the organization could affect the job satisfaction. From the organization behavior analysis, I have gathered that the positive interpersonal communication can affect the job satisfaction. I came to know that there are several organizational behavior theories and concepts and one among them is equity theory. Such organizational behavior theory can be deemed as application in our situation in the health care company. I have also observed that this theory attempts to explain the relational satisfaction that considers fair and unfair resource distribution within the organization. I have observed that during my summer internship program that the major idea of relating this organizational behavior theory was that the staff of the organization would believe that the individual is treated in a fair manner. In such scenario, he perceives that the rate of his contribution to the organization is equal to the positive results aged by him by the company (Nahavandi et al. 2013). The outcomes those I revealed to be gathered from the application of this organizational behavior theory in the given situation included offering the employees with recognition, better salary and reputation to increase their job satisfaction. Another organizational behavior theory that I can relate with the situation of the organizational behavior issues faced by the company is the goal setting theory of motivation. From applying such theory in the given organizational situation, I have gathered that the goal setting by the organization and its members is closely related with the performance of the employees within the workplace. I have gained knowledge that as per this theory, the employees must understand the ways to accomplish the goals of their assigned tasks and the ways to gain suitable feedback. I understood that it could help the companies in increasing employee motivation and their productivity at work. Considering the organizational behavior issues faced by the company, I h ave realized that for offering efficient solutions to the issue of poor interpersonal communication that can result in increase employee turnover within the company several effective actions must be taken by the company. I have recommended the organization to conduct regular evaluation of organizational culture. Considering this solution it is deemed essential to strengthen the relationship between the older and younger employees and for this reason organizing special training programs for the younger employees must be provided that will increase their motivation level (Pinder 2014). Conclusion However, this essay, I attempted to offer a detailed description of the organizational behavior concerns along with discussing the factor those caused such issues in the company. From the essay, I gathered that the organizational behavior issues must be resolved by the organization in an efficient manner in order to deal with several serious consequences that include increased employee turnover and loss of the desired productivity and poor reputation of the health care company within the competitive marketplace. From the essay, I also gathered that I came to realize that in order to solve such organizational behavior issues the description of the major factors causing the issues must be described. I gained knowledge that certain difficulties with the interpersonal communication can affect the low job satisfaction of the employees along with their low morale. I felt that to deal with such issue it is vital to treat all the team members with great respect. As an organizational consultant, I considered it necessary to consider the major factors of poor interpersonal communications that can result in critical situations within the company. Based on the situation I can state that such serious situation can decrease the productivity of the company. Reference List Czaplewski, A.J., Key, T.M. and Van Scotter II, J.R., 2016. Organisational Behaviour for Scattered Geographical Locations

Question: Discuss about theOrganisational Behaviour for Scattered Geographical Locations. Answer: Introduction In order to establish a successful virtual meeting, it is imperative to take care about certain key points. Since there are least chances of having face-to-face conversations to sort out misunderstandings, the managing director must adhere to certain practices while conducting a virtual meeting. The practices that needs to be adapted are discussed below: Our scattered geographical locations Since the lead of the proposed team are from different geographical locations only a virtual meeting will be able to make a proper team coordination. The business head will maintain a continuous focus to the fact that the future meetings are arranged in such a way that it does not harm the private times of our lead members. From the companys end special care would be taken so that all the leads of the team provides their consent in accord to their own preferences. The good part of carrying on a virtual meeting is that the employees would not need to travel so far into other countries. This travelling would not only save time but also at the same time will also save unnecessary expenses and thus, save companys capital (Majchrzak et al. 2014). Meeting challenges Our major members are from different geographical locations. As such, it is quite normal that apart from the timing issue the members would also be facing language constraints. The members are from Mumbai, Sydney, New York and Beijing. Since all the different parts that the business leads are chosen from follow various culture and language practices, it may turn a bit difficult to converse in virtual meetings. It is imperative to understand the ideas and innovation skills of the member. In order to do that, it has been decided that the company will create its own website and design its own video chatting software (Binder 2016). The software will be containing preinstalled translator and all the speech would be auto translated in comfortable language of the leads. This approach would be reducing language problem to a great extent. Handling cross conversations On any given day, there would be minimum four members from Mumbai, Sydney, New York and apart from that the managing director would also be joining he discussion. In such a situation, there is no iota of doubt that there will be clashes among ideas. Other factors like the arguments and debates are no less to mention. In such conditions others leaders may overlook the arguments and statements of the leaders. There may be chaos and discrepancy in thoughts. Such situations if not handled skillfully may turn grave. In order to prevent situations like that the company has decided that it would design the meeting in a different way (Hoch and Kozlowski 2014). That is all the leads and the members will be given chance to speak, counter question, justify their speeches and argue if needed. There will be time slots divided equally among the leads to place their points. Perception of deadlines Once again, the scattered geographical location comes into account. The time zones are different and as such a 5pm deadline would mean different time at the other places. The admin needs to be tactful while allocating the deadlines. The company will also take in to account that the deadlines are not adjusted in ways so that any particular country gets only overnight time to get the work done. The company has decided that the work allocated will be in moderation. Time of whole units, that is 24 hrs or 48 hours will be given to the leads to suggest ideologies for a particular project. Most of the projects will be of long deadlines. However, if there are projects of shorter deadlines the company will take concern that the leads are comfortable with the deadlines. At times, if there are urgency of projects that needs to be get done. In such emergency situations, the leads or the lead that will be handling the projects will be given leave for the next day. The leads will also be having th e benefit of taking bonus in exchange of leave in such critical cases (Nemiro 2016). Conclusion It can thus be concluded that though virtual meeting has certain benefits yet it also has some strong constraints. The key constraints that virtual meetings can have are discussed and the possible recommendations and solutions has also been discussed. If the mentioned solutions are taken into consideration, virtual meetings would be largely successful.
